Abnaa Suhmata Association

ASA was established in 17 July 1996 to ensure the following goals are met:

  • To lobby the specified authorities and other bodies for the return of Suhmata natives to their village.

  • To renovate cemeteries and holy sites, and to maintain them afterwards.

  • To strengthen social and cultural ties among the people of Suhmata.

  • To carry out different studies and collect statistics in all relevant fields of interest.

  • To develop and foster knowledge among the sons of the village about Suhmata's history.

Since 1996, ASA has waged its struggle in the interests of these goals, alongside the people of Suhmata. We hold annual meetings for children to pass the message from one generation to the next, and take initiatives in different political, educational and cultural activities that bear on the right of return.

The major activities of ASA include:

  • Organizing several yearly activities on the land of our destroyed village:
  • Land Day, 30 March.
  • The anniversary of the Nakba, which changes annually.
  • The anniversary of the occupation of our village, 28 October.
  • Lecturing at schools about the right of return.
  • Intensifying our efforts to renovate our holy sites.
  • Holding summer meetings for children.
  • Developing educational and cultural activities.
